Workshops Planned for Redevelopment Efforts
January 21
Stafford County officials invite interested individuals to attend one
of three workshops on the county’s redevelopment efforts. The schedule for the
workshops follows:
Boswell’s
Corner Redevelopment Area (A two-mile stretch extending south from Quantico Marine
Corps Base along Route 1 and I-95)
Saturday, January 24 10:00 a.m. – noon Hilldrup Moving and Storage
Courthouse
Area Redevelopment Area (Area encompassing the Stafford Courthouse, Government
buildings, and the new Stafford Hospital on Route 1)
Tuesday, January 27 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Rowser Building 1739 Jefferson
Davis Highway
Falmouth and the
Southern Gateway Redevelopment Areas (Area around Falmouth and extending along U.S. 17 to
Berea
Road)
Monday, February 2 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Belmont
The
goal of the workshops is for staff and CMSS Architects, the lead contractor on
the projects, to obtain the public’s input on each of the redevelopment visions.
The workshops will be interactive, with participants working in groups of six to
eight people to exchange ideas, draw up plans, and discuss opportunities.
Stafford’s 2006 Economic Development Strategic
Plan identified these four areas as being prime for redevelopment in the
county. As the region's population grows, officials believe that these areas
will provide important opportunities for businesses and recreation. Stafford officials are encouraging redevelopment in these
areas through private sector investment and partnership with the goal of these
efforts providing a framework for improvements over time. Public
information meetings have been held in each of these areas for citizens and
businesses over the last two years. The workshops are the next step toward
finalizing redevelopment plans.

department at (540) 658-8681.
